HYDROPLANE & RACEBOAT MUSEUM
FUN DAY

LAKE CHELAN
Another successful run for MISS THRIFTWAY! Thanks to the Chiefs hard work on rebuilding our gearbox! At Tastin' and Racin' we discovered our scavanger pump gear drive had broken. This led to further investigation which required a complete rebuild of the gearbox. Our appreciation to Dixon Smith who helped us understand where we went wrong so we did not repeat the same mistakes on the rebuild (had to do with clearences)
A total of 5 boats were at Lake Chealn - MISS THRIFTWAY, MISS BARDAHL, MISS BURIEN, OH BOY! OBERTO and HURRICANE IV. We went out 9 times giving rides to George Nelson, Monte Aversano, Barbara Mann, Mary Compton, Lou Fezio, Bill Willis, Lori Norton and Gary, one of the EMT's.
David Williams reported that between the five boats, 39 rides were given for the day...One short of the "record" of 40 set back in 2001. The weather report had been a bit ominous, but we think our buddy Roger Newton talked to the "Big Guy" and got us a break. Both the wind and the rain held off until the last boat was out of the pits!
Once again Chris Denslow showed up with his camera and excellent skill and spent the day shooting pictures.
You can view his entire gallery at SmugMug
THANKS CHRIS!!!!!! WE REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR WORK!
Also, Thanks again to Lori Norton who supplied us with many pictures of the day!
