TASTIN' and RACIN'
June 7-8, 2008
LAKE SAMMAMISH
We participated in the 11th Annual Tastin' and Racin' APBA event held at Lake Sammamish State Park. Along with MISS THRIFTWAY, Dixon Smith brought MISS BARDAHL, Nate Brown brought the U-17 Turbine and Billy and Jane Schumacher brought the U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing. There have been unlimiteds on Lake Sammamish before, but to have two vintage boats running side by side then to have two turbine boats run exhibitions (testing really....) was a true treat for racing fans. One of the last exhibitions of the event was when Dixon ran the MISS BARDAHL along side Jean Theoret in the Miss Beacon Plumbing. While there is no real connection, the checkerboard paint scheme on the Beacon boat was inspired by the 1968 MISS BARDAHL, the later successor to Dixons boat. It was really a treat to see 1962 meet 2008 on the race course
I have selected a few of the photos taken by Chris Denslow and placed them here. If you would like to see the full portfolio, go to Chris's gallery on SmugMug
