TASTIN' and RACIN' - June 6-7, 2009
Lk Sammamish - Issaquah, WA.

The 13th Annual Tastin' and Racin' event was held at the Lake Sammamish State Park on June 6th & 7th. With last years success of running both vintage and current day turbine unlimiteds in exhibition runs, the organizing committee, wanted to repeat the enthusiasm and invited us back for this years event.

Four unlimiteds made runs on the small, 1+ mile course, our MISS THRIFTWAY, the Museums 1975 OH BOY! OBERTO, Greg O'Farrells U-48 Albert Lee Appliance and Our Gang Racings U-17.

We would like to thank and congratulate Jon and Chris Courtright along with all of the H.I.D.R.O. volunteers for not only inviting us to participate, but for putting on a spectatular event! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!

MISS THRIFTWAY ran twice each day with the OH BOY! OBERTO for four to five lap exhibition runs. We were able to take some riders too. Steve Compton took Mike Matheny (Compton Lumber Sales Manager) while Larry took his son Dean, Norm Matthews (Vashon Island Thriftway Owner) and Kayleigh Perkins. Kayleigh gained some appreciation on how much easier she has it in just TURNING her Unlimited Light compared to the ol' round noses!

Our thanks again to Chris Denslow, in addition to Lon Erickson for providing the photos below!

Please visit Chris's photo gallery of the entire race and if you see something you like, purchase an 8x10 from him. Please help support the great work he does for boat racing!

When did you think you would see two vintage and two turbines at a dock on Lake Sammamish?
